On Wednes 8 March we were delighted to host Dr Fiona Carragher, Deputy Chief Scientific Officer, for a visit to the Innovation Hub at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS FT, where new technologies that are being developed to integrate effectively into existing health systems and services are showcased.

Dr Carragher visited the Department of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering to learn more about the functions of our department, including the role of healthcare scientists in driving innovation in patient care.

During a packed programme, Dr Carragher was introduced to a range of the technology innovations that D4D have been involved in developing, including the Sheffield Support Snood, the Emego device that is under development with GSPK Design, Ampcare’s Effective Swallowing Protocol, and the breadth of work the TITCH Network undertakes. We were also delighted to be joined by 365 Response, with whom we have worked closely since they were first awarded funding via the SBRI Kidney Care programme that we managed, and who have developed a platform to simplify patient transport and patient flow.

We look forward to working closely with Fiona in the future.
