Applications are now open for the Healthcare Science Innovation Fellowship Programme 2022.
This exciting programme provides experience of the innovation process, focusing on digital technologies for diagnostics or monitoring, equipping successful Fellows with the knowledge, skills and confidence for the development, evaluation and implementation of new technologies, and the ability to initiate and lead their own technology innovation projects in the future.
Fellows have access to blended project–based and online learning and training resources and mentoring to undertake a technology innovation project relevant to their department, supported by a £15k innovation bursary.
We spoke to Darren Hart one of the Fellows from the 2020/21 cohort about his experience of the Programme.
Darren is a Clinical Scientist at the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust.
“I feel extremely fortunate to be amongst the first cohort of Innovation Fellows.
Why apply to become a Fellow? You get protected time for your own technology project & matched with the generous funding this helps you progress your project with confidence, legitimacy & autonomy. The D4D team & their partners are fantastic, providing expert mentoring & teaching which is all grounded in their experience.
It’s a journey in a sense – where you develop yourself and your skills.
I think healthcare scientists have so much to bring to innovation – & we can all recognise that more in our roles. This is the perfect opportunity to do just that. Most of all it’s great fun & an opportunity to progress your idea to make a positive difference that benefits others.”
The programme is an opportunity for qualified Healthcare Scientists working within the NHS in England and Wales, with at least 1 year of post-qualification experience. The deadline to apply is 14th December 2021.
