The one-day event will offer you an explanation of the support that you can receive from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and other local partner organisations. This will include practical advice on the funding programmes that the NIHR run that are available for SMEs. You will hear from representatives from some of the companies that we have helped who will be sharing their experiences, tips and advice from an SME perspective.
You will also have the opportunity to ask your burning questions to our experts in sessions that will focus on your specific areas of interest, ensuring that you leave the day armed with the information that you need to drive your commercial project.

The keynote speech will be delivered by Professor Curtis Dobson, Chairman of MicroBiosensor. In addition to having co-invented rapid diagnostic technology for improved microbial infection detection, Curtis also runs the successful Medical Device Biology Group at the University of Manchester. He has over fifteen years’ experience of managing university spin-out companies in various senior roles, and is a consultant to several major European and US medical device companies, having raised over £15m in seed and VC Investment and translational research funding in his career.
